APPROPRIATE FOR 7 - 11 YEAR OLDS
A story about football, friendship and fantasy for 7 - 11 year olds
Chiara dreams of Maradona and Beckham, spends all her time perfecting headers and goal kicks. All she wants is to be a professional footballer... Simon thinks playing football all the time is stupid. He would much rather be a pilot, but him and Chiara are friends... This light-hearted piece delves into the world of football through the eyes of two friends. Injuries and arguments, winners and losers, rules and tactics are all explored. Post performance discussion after every show. A chance for the children to talk with and ask questions to the dancers about what they have seen.
Vampires !!!
APPROPRIATE FOR 7 - 11 YEAR OLDS
A dance piece for vampires and children…
One morning three little vampires, Herman, Trudi and Eddie decide they are not really tired and don’t want to go to sleep in their coffin. It is sooooooooooooooooo boring and there are lots and lots and lots of more exciting things to do…
As the little vampires play many, many, many children turn up in their cobweb-filled vault. They smell of coco pops, milk and some even of garlic (a vampire’s worst daymare)
UUUUHHHH!!!
The children look as if they have never, never, ever, ever washed and they don’t speak Vamperanto.
Join the vampires for a fang-toothed and caped adventure!
This piece is made with and for 7 – 11 year olds and suitable for families of all ages. The music is composed by Sarah Goldfarb.
MatchGirl
APPROPRIATE FOR 7 - 18 YEAR OLDS
In a culture of gossip magazine questionnaires and the new age of ‘Celebrity’ this live theatre-based performance inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Match Girl was made in collaboration with local school girls in the Tees Valley and explores the pressures faced by young girls in today’s society. Do you make friends easily? Do you wear lots of glitter? Do you like sleepovers? Do you play a musical instrument? Do you prefer the Kooks to McFly? Do you spend all your money on make up? Do you exercise more than three times a week? These are the questions which the dancers ask on stage. They have been taken from magazines which target 12 – 18 year olds. The performance looks at the notion of identity and reflects upon the cultural forces that impact on the way young girls view themselves in the 21st century. It questions the relevance of the media and its power to shape society and a post show forum offers both sexes of the audience an opportunity to openly share their views on the performance and to consider their own identity in direct relation to specific cultural experiences. This challenging and provocative performance exposes the audiences to a diverse cultural experience and is staged by our dancers with some of the spoken dialogue delivered in English, French, Italian and German opening up communication about foreign languages and giving depth to the question of what it means to be a British citizen today. This piece is made with and for young people aged 12 – 16 years.
